I am just blown away by the very positive comments about my work and I just can’t believe it. There are four main factors that have really influenced the improvement in my work. Researching Kentridge, getting to know the man and his work, his use and my use of charcoal which is a medium that has such incredible properties and provides immediate and exciting journeys, my tutors comments that have really spurred me on to be confident in what I’m doing. I really relate to her well and have a great respect for her views and she provides good constructive feedback on areas I could improve on or do differently. I also mention my previous tutor as she also helped lay the foundations for me to improve the quality of my work.
My current tutor has also provided me with links to artists to explore. Judith Tuckers work is sublime, not just the black and white drawings of the landscape but I really love her raw and rugged style of some of the landscapes and buildings at night. I’m writing about her in the section on research.
I explained in my tutorial that I was well on the way with writing the critical review and that I should complete it in the next few days. We agreed that I submit it as a draft with my assignment five. I also mentioned that I had received an e-mail congratulating me on completion of part 4 but also suggesting I apply on line for assessment. My tutor said that the process had changed and that I should not have to apply. She asked that I forwarded the e-mail so I have done this. She said that after completion of all my work then I would be put forward to the assessment. It looks currently as though this might be July.
I further shared how I was looking at how to exhibit my work. She suggested a white mount for the charcoal work. I shared how I had been offered gallery space in a cafe, and that I intended to mount and frame my own work.
