I was really pleased with my tutor’s report. She had written a full report which could have been a short one as we had a video call on 9th Sept 2022. My one regret is not acknowledging the Queens death in the call. I hope my tutor didn’t think I was insensitive. I was so over the moon with the report and full of the ideas I wanted to share. The report was full of comments that made me feel as though my tutor was understanding where I am coming from with the work I’m undertaking and my motivation. She had provided me with really good links to research and the comments in the report were very constructive. As I’d begun working on a series of charcoal/ black and white images she reminded me about the sensitivity towards materials. Why I hadn’t written this and made the connection explicit is such a pity as the charcoal is from the tree and I should have connected this to my landscape of trees. I explained to her some of my ideas for the parallel project and to continue with two themes for level two. The foraging map work and some preparatory work for level three based around my text piece. As the latter is about death and dying, I wanted to explore how artist portray death for the critical review. My second theme around the death and dying and my text piece I will use to create some preparatory images for level three. My tutor was very sensitive and considerate when she just questioned how this work might impact on me due to the nature of it. I was able to reassure her that I had excellent support in friends and ex colleagues. One of the other things I was able to ask of my tutor was for her to be critical of my work. I think sometimes tutors can be too diplomatic and I really do want advice on improving my work.
