This is my first report from my new tutor. I had uploaded the Assignment 1 to the VLE and had given details of my blog. I received an e-mail with an attachment of the whole report but there was no details about the Assignment. She was able to send the report in full after I made contact.
Despite the initial glitches, my tutor sent an amended report to me that includes the feedback on the Assignment. Overall her comments are really helpful and very constructive. She has picked up on a lot of important points and issues that are really helpful. Every decision and choice about each step of my work I really need to explain in more detail. I feel in some ways I have let myself down by this. My tutor has questioned some of my processes and whether I keep a sketchbook. I must include more of my sketchbook drawings, experiments and ideas. I do undertake sketchbook drawings and have been doing some outdoor and life drawing sketches. I must include these. I will try to ensure she is aware of how I work. I did explain why I was using photos and that I was inspired by Barbara Walker in this regard. I’m thoroughly enjoying following up my tutors suggested artist and the links provided. I have joined the art critics website Andrew Graham-Dixon and its full of great inspiring work. She noted I was keen on Hopper and sent me a link about his drawing processes. I do have books on his work but am keen to follow up. The links on Hopper were fabulous and there was so much more of his drawings. I think I’ve had another Eureka moment. His work is sublime and his pencil/charcoal work is dramatic and similar to Kentridge.
